Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
  • salt
  • diced green pepper - 2 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • hot pepper sauce - 1/4 tsp
  • sliced celery - 1 c
  • cooked ham, cubed - 1 lb
  • or 2 cloves garlic, minced - 1 item
  • medium onions, sliced thin - 2 item
  • hot, cooked rice - 3 c
  • peeled, deveined shrimp - 2 lb
  • each cans whole tomatoes - 2 lb

How to make shrimp jambalaya:

Cook celery, green peppers and onions in half the butter, until tender. Add garlic and ham; cook 5 minutes longer. Add remaining butter, shrimp, salt, hot pepper sauce, chili powder and sugar. Cook, tossing often until shrimp are pink. Add tomatoes and heat. Serve over rice. Makes 8 servings.
