Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch
  • water - 1/4 c
  • shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • minced onion - 2 Tbsp
  • rice - 1 item
  • green peppers, minced - 2 item
  • soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
  • canned beef bouillon - 1 c
  • steak round or flank - 1 lb
  • drained, canned tomatoes or 3 tomatoes, quartered - 1 c

How to make pepper steak:

Melt shortening in skillet. Cut meat into 1-inch strips; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Fry meat, onion and garlic until brown. Add peppers and bouillon; cover and cook 30 minutes. Add tomatoes; simmer 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch, soy sauce and water. Add to meat mixture and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Serve over cooked rice. Serves 6.
