Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch
- water - 1/4 c
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- minced onion - 2 Tbsp
- rice - 1 item
- green peppers, minced - 2 item
- soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
- canned beef bouillon - 1 c
- steak round or flank - 1 lb
- drained, canned tomatoes or 3 tomatoes, quartered - 1 c
How to make pepper steak:
Melt shortening in skillet. Cut meat into 1-inch strips; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Fry meat, onion and garlic until brown. Add peppers and bouillon; cover and cook 30 minutes. Add tomatoes; simmer 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch, soy sauce and water. Add to meat mixture and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Serve over cooked rice.
