Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch
  • water - 1/4 c
  • shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • soy sauce - 2 tsp
  • minced onion - 2 Tbsp
  • black pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • green peppers, diced - 2 item
  • round steak - 1 lb
  • canned beef bouillon - 1 c
  • drained canned tomatoes - 1 c

How to make pepper steak:

Melt shortening in frying pan. Cut meat into 1-inch strips. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place meat, onion and garlic in frying pan and brown. Add green pepper and bouillon. Cover and cook 30 minutes. Add tomatoes; simmer 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch, soy sauce and water. Add to meat mixture. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Serves 4.
