Pear streusel pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- grated lemon rind - 1 tsp
- mace - 1/4 tsp
- 1 stick butter, softened - 1/4 c
- sliced pears - 4 c
- or 10-inch pie crust - 9 item
- Drain and save liquid for sauce
How to make pear streusel pie:
Boil pears in 1 cup water for 10 minutes. Drain and save liquid for sauce. Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add lemon rind, juice and 1 cup cooking liquid from pears. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Put pears in uncooked pie crust; cover with sauce. Sprinkle with Streusel Topping and bake in a hot 425° oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake for 30 minutes longer. Serve warm with ice cream.Streusel Topping:1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. flour1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 tsp. ginger1/4 tsp. mace1/4 c.
