Oven beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- salt
- water
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour - 2 Tbsp
- chopped onion
- dried basil, crushed - 1/2 tsp
- dry red wine
- medium carrots, cut in 1-inch pieces - 4 item
- medium potatoes, pared and cubed - 4 item
- cans condensed tomato soup - 2 1/2
- beef chuck, cut int 1-inch cubes
How to make oven beef stew:
Combine flour, salt and dash of pepper; coat meat cubes in seasoned flour. Brown in hot shortening in Dutch oven. Add soup, 1 cup wine, 1 1/2 cup water, onion and crushed basil. Cover and bake in 375° oven about 1 hour. Add potatoes, carrots and 1/2 cup wine. Cover and bake 1 hour or until tender. Makes 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beef, Stew.
