How to make oven barbecued spareribs:
To pork ribs, add water to 3/4 cover ribs. Cover and cook until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Drain and place in a shallow baking pan.Meanwhile, combine in saucepan tomato juice, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, onion, dry mustard, paprika, chili powder, catsup and salt. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. If sauce isn't as thick as desired, add 1 or 2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in a little water and cook just until thickened. Add lemon juice and cool. Spoon over ribs. Cover and chill overnight or 24 hours.
Uncover and bake at 350° for 30 to 45 minutes, basting several times with sauce. Yields 4 to 5 servings.
Note: May use store bought barbecue sauce instead of this sauce recipe, but do not marinate. Pour sauce generously over cooked ribs in baking pan and bake as directed.
