Ingredients/Components
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- Gruyere cheese, grated - 3/4 c
- sweet butter - 2 Tbsp
- beef or chicken broth - 3 c
- large onion, peeled and sliced thin - 1 item
- Italian bread, sliced and toasted - 1 item
How to make onion soup:
Melt butter in saucepan. Add onion and saute 10 to 15 minutes until lightly browned. Add broth, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Place bread in bottom of ovenproof casserole.
