Oatmeal wheat bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 2 Tbsp
- boiling water - 2 c
- warm water - 1 c
- honey - 1/2 c
- whole wheat flour - 3 4
- yeast - 3 pkg
- white flour - 3 4
- 1/2 sticks margarine - 1 item
- oats I use 1 1/2 c - 3 c
- liquid lecithin optional - 1 Tbsp
How to make oatmeal wheat bread:
Combine 2 cups boiling water, margarine, salt, lecithin, honey and oats in mixing bowl and set aside.Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1 cup warm water. Set aside for 5 minutes. Add 2 1/2 to 3 cups whole wheat flour to first mixture and mix by hand or with dough hooks for 3 to 4 minutes until well mixed.
Add yeast mixture and mix another 3 to 4 minutes. Add approximately 3 cups white flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough is not too sticky. Add more flour (white or wheat) if needed. Knead dough another 5 to 10 minutes. Let rise twice, punching down each time. Shape in 4 or 5 loaves and let rise. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
