  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • coconut - 1 c
  • melted margarine - 5 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • hot water
  • oatmeal - 1 c
  • cream or canned milk - 1/4 c

How to make oatmeal cake:

Cream together oatmeal and hot water and let stand 20 minutes. Mix Crisco, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla and add oatmeal, flour, nutmeg, salt and soda. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

Top with margarine, brown sugar, milk, coconut and pecans. Spread on cake and bake 10 minutes.
