  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • oatmeal - 1 c
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • Milnot - 1/4 c
  • Let stand 20 minutes

How to make oatmeal cake:

Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream shortening, sugar, brown sugar and eggs. Add oatmeal to the mixture; stir. Add remaining ingredients.

Bake in a well-greased 9 x 5-inch pan at 350° for 45 minutes. Remove from pan. Frost while still warm.Frosting:6 Tbsp. oleo1 c. coconut1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. chopped nuts1/4 c. Milnot Mix and spread on top of cake. Place under broiler to brown coconut.
