Oatmeal cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- shortening - 1/2 c
- oatmeal - 1 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- Milnot - 1/4 c
- Let stand 20 minutes
How to make oatmeal cake:
Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream shortening, sugar, brown sugar and eggs. Add oatmeal to the mixture; stir. Add remaining ingredients.Bake in a well-greased 9 x 5-inch pan at 350° for 45 minutes. Remove from pan. Frost while still warm.Frosting:6 Tbsp. oleo1 c. coconut1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. chopped nuts1/4 c. Milnot Mix and spread on top of cake. Place under broiler to brown coconut.
