Norwegian betasuppe
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- water - 10 c
- onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- thyme - 1 Tbsp
- yellow split peas - 1 lb
- chopped leek
- ham hocks or 1/2 c - 1 lb
- each: potatoes, diced, rutabaga and celery root - 2 c
How to make norwegian betasuppe:
Combine peas, ham hocks or ham, onion, thyme and water. Add potatoes, rutabaga, celery root, leek and salt. Combine ingredients in a large Dutch oven and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
