No-fuss lasagna
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 3 c
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- can tomato paste - 1 oz
- lean ground beef
- dried parsley flakes - 4 tsp
- carton cottage cheese - 1 oz
- shredded Cheddar cheese, divided - 2 c
- shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided - 2 c
- spaghetti sauce mix 1 1/2 oz - 2 pkg
How to make no-fuss lasagna:
To make a day ahead and bake just before serving: In a large saucepan, brown ground beef; drain. Add tomato paste, water, spaghetti sauce mix, sugar, parsley, salt, garlic powder and pepper. Simmer, partially covered, for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.In a bowl, combine eggs with cottage cheese, half of the Cheddar cheese and half of the Mozzarella cheese. Set aside.
Spoon 1/3 of the meat sauce into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Place half of uncooked noodles over sauce. Top with 1/3 of meat sauce and press down. Spoon cottage cheese mixture over all. Cover with remaining noodles and meat sauce. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake, covered, at 350° for 1 hour. Uncover. Sprinkle with remaining Cheddar and Mozzarella cheeses. Bake an additional 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Yields 8 servings.
This recipe can also be prepared using cooked noodles and baking the same day.
