New england clam chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- thyme - 1/8 tsp
- slices bacon - 3 item
- large potato, cubed - 1 item
- medium stalk celery, chopped - 1 item
- cans minced clams, drained reserve liquid - 2 1/2
How to make new england clam chowder:
In large saucepan, fry bacon until crisp; drain on paper towel. To drippings, add potato, celery, onion, salt, pepper, thyme and liquid from clams. Heat to boiling and cook, covered, about 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Combine flour and milk. Add to vegetable mixture. Heat over medium heat until thickened, stirring occasionally.
