- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 2/3 c
- flour
- vanilla flavoring - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2/3 c
- baking powder
- mashed bananas
- butter flavored Crisco - 2/3 c
- Stir in flour, baking powder, soda and salt
How to make mom's banana cake:
Cream butter flavored Crisco and sugar. Stir in flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add mashed bananas and 1/3 cup of buttermilk. Beat for 2 minutes. Then add 1/3 cup buttermilk and 2 eggs. Beat thoroughly. Stir in 2/3 cup chopped nuts. Bake in a greased 9 x 13-inch glass pan at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes (can use aluminum pan). Check for doneness with toothpick.Cream Filling:2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1/4 tsp. salt1/2 c. milk1/3 c. butter flavored Crisco1/2 c. sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring Combine flour and salt with milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth. Cream Crisco and sugar. Add cooled milk mixture. Beat until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla.
