Mixed vegetable casserole
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- melted butter - 2 Tbsp
- hot water - 1/4 c
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- sherry - 2 Tbsp
- pinch of thyme - 1 item
- Parmesan - 1/4 c
- pinch of nutmeg - 1 item
- frozen mixed veggies - 2 (10
- torn up bread pieces - 2 c
How to make mixed vegetable casserole:
Cook veggies, hot water, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Cool 10 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid. Melt 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in 2 cups pulled apart bread pieces. Reserve for topping.Mix together 1/4 cup melted butter, 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and reserved liquid and enough milk to make 2 cups. Stir until thickened. Then add Parmesan, nutmeg, thyme, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and sherry. Heat thoroughly. Mix in vegetables. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch casserole. Top with buttered bread pieces. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes or until sauce bubbles.
