Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla - 3 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour
  • cocoa - 1/3 c
  • shortening - 1 c
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • cream evaporated milk - 1/2 c
  • Frosting:2 sticks margarine

How to make mississippi mud cake:

Frosting:2 sticks margarine1/2 c. cocoa1 box powdered sugar1/2 c. cream (evaporated milk)1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped pecans Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Sift flour, cocoa and salt; add to mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased and floured oblong pan (13 x 9-inch) and bake for 35 to 45 minutes at 300°.

Frosting: Sift sugar and cocoa. Mix with melted margarine. Add cream, vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake. Let stand for a couple of hours; cut into squares.
