Mincemeat pie
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 3/4 c
- cider vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- seedless raisins - 3/4 c
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- grated orange peel
- orange juice - 1 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1/4 lb
- apple juice - 1/2 c
- medium apples, peeled and chopped - 3 item
- rum or brandy - 1/4 c
- crusts pastry - 2 item
How to make mincemeat pie:
In saucepan over medium heat, bring to boil all ingredients except brandy and pastry. Stir often and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in brandy. Preheat oven to 425°.Divide pastry. Line 9-inch pan, leaving overhang. Spoon mincemeat into crust. Cut strips for lattice top from remaining pastry. Pinch edges to seal and form fluted edge. Bake 30 minutes or until crust is brown. Serve slightly warm. Refrigerate leftovers.
