Ingredients/Components

  • dairy sour cream - 2 c
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chili powder - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onions - 1/2 c
  • ground beef - 2 lb
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
  • mayonnaise - 1 c
  • cans crescent rolls - 2 oz
  • medium tomatoes, sliced thin - 3 item
  • jalapeno peppers or green chilies - 1/4 c

How to make mexican pie:

Preheat oven to 375°. In skillet, brown ground beef, chili powder, salt and garlic salt until light brown. Drain. In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise and onions.

Cover cookie sheet with foil. Separate dough and place on cookie sheet; form sides to form crust. Spoon meat mixture evenly over crust. Arrange tomato slices over meat. Sprinkle with peppers and 1 cup cheese, then spread sour cream mixture evenly over filling. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Cut into squares and top with desired toppings.

Suggested Topping: Shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions and taco sauce.

Tip: To reheat leftovers, cover loosely with foil and heat in a 375° oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
