Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- dry red wine - 2 Tbsp
- chopped tomatoes
- minced garlic - 2 tsp
- chopped red onion - 1 item
- chopped white onion - 1 item
- oregano optional - 1 item
- basil optional - 1 item
- water or stock - 7 c
- potatoes optional - 1 item
- bacon optional - 1 item
- ham optional - 1 item
- scallions optional - 1 item
- lots of pepper - 1 item
- minced celery stalks - 2 item
- raw rinsed lentils - 3 c
- chopped large carrots - 3 item
How to make lentil soup:
In large pot, simmer lentils, water and salt. Cover 3 to 4 hours. Add garlic, onion, celery and carrots and simmer another hour. About 30 minutes before serving, add tomatoes, wine, lemon juice and black pepper. Season to taste. Enjoy. Serve with bread or rolls.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Soups & stews, Pork.
