Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- cold water - 3 Tbsp
- boiling water - 1 c
- cornstarch or 1 1/2 Tbsp - 1 Tbsp
- lemon juice and grated rind of 1 lemon - 3 Tbsp
How to make lemon sauce:
Mix cornstarch (or flour) and sugar with 3 tablespoons cold water. Stir into hot water in a double boiler. Cook until thickened (20 to 30 minutes). Add butter, lemon juice and lemon rind. (Cook 2 to 10 minutes longer.)Sauce is delicious served hot over gingerbread or any spiced cake.
