Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1/3 c
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • lemon juice - 1/3 c
  • Meringue:3 egg whites
  • cooked 9-inch pie shell - 1 item
  • liquid 1 small can Carnation and water to finish

How to make lemon pie:

Meringue:3 egg whites6 Tbsp. sugar In double boiler, put 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, salt, water and Carnation. Blend and cook mixture. Gradually stir in egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar. Continue stirring until well cooked. Remove from fire. Stir in lemon juice and margarine. Pour in cooled pie shell.

To make meringue, gradually add sugar to egg whites as you whip. Beat egg whites until stiff and glossy. Pour whipped egg whites on top of pie and brown in 350° oven to desired brownness.
