  • vanilla wafer crumbs about 40 wafers
  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • stick margarine - 3/4 item
  • eggs - 3 item
  • can sweetened condensed milk - 1 oz
  • fresh lemon juice - 1/2 c
  • cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp

How to make lemon meringue pie:

Mix crumbs, 2 tablespoons sugar and melted margarine well. Press firmly in bottom and on sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Chill 1 hour before using.

Preheat oven to 350°. In a medium mixing bowl, beat egg yolks. Stir in milk and lemon juice. Pour into crust. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff, not dry. Spread meringue carefully to seal edge of shell. Bake 12 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and chill. Refrigerate leftovers.
