Ingredients/Components
- slices toast - 4 item
- slices turkey or chicken use more if needed - 4 item
- or more slices cooked bacon - 4 item
- butter
- flour - 6 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- milk
- Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
- grated Cheddar cheese - 3/4 c
How to make kentucky hot brown:
Cheese Sauce:6 Tbsp. butter6 Tbsp. flour1/2 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. pepper1 1/2 c. milk1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce3/4 c. grated Cheddar cheese For Velveeta cheese lovers: Add a little milk to Velveeta; melt in microwave on Low, stirring frequently. This sauce replaces the other.To make Cheese Sauce: Over low heat, in medium saucepan, melt butter and flour until blended. Add milk slowly and other sauce ingredients. Stir until mixed thoroughly and slightly thickened.
Hot Brown: Layer toast in bottom of individual ovenproof casserole dishes. Place meat on top, then the bacon. Pour cheese sauce all over and add a little grated sharp cheese on top. Place casserole dishes in 350° oven for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. A slice of tomato may be placed on top for the last 5 minutes of cooking time.
