Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- evaporated milk - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- egg yolks - 2 item
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- nuts - 1 c
- stick butter - 1 item
- raisins - 1 c
- nuts, chopped - 1 c
- cloves - 1 tsp
- strawberry preserves - 1 c
- blackberry jam - 1 c
- peach preserves - 1 c
- cake flour or regular flour - 3 c
- Add 5 well beaten eggs
How to make jam cake:
Cream butter and sugar. Add 5 well beaten eggs. Sift spices, baking powder, cocoa and flour; add alternately with soda-buttermilk mixture to the other ingredients. Add nuts, raisins, preserves and vanilla to batter. Bake at 375°. This makes either a four layer cake, or divide and make two cakes according to size of pans.Icing:1 c. sugar1 c. evaporated milk2 egg yolks1 stick butter1 tsp. vanilla1 c. nuts Cook until thick.
