How to make icebox cookies:

Cream together butter, shortening and sugars. Add eggs; cream again. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture; blend. Stir in vanilla and nuts. This is a stiff dough. Mold into long squares or rectangles, or press into foil boxes or juice cans, to shape. Refrigerate overnight or freeze. Slice thin. Place 1/2 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 450° for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet quickly. Cool on a rack. Empty foil boxes or cans are good "shapers" and all cookies will be the same size. These cookies will keep indefinitely, if you hide them!
