Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- buttermilk
- baking soda - 3/4 tsp
- vegetable oil - 1 item
- chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- yellow cornmeal
How to make hush puppies:
Heat oil (1 inch) to 375°. Mix all ingredients together. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Fry until brown, about 2 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.Recipe categories: American, Side dish, Southern u.s..
