  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 item
  • egg - 1 item
  • margarine - 3 Tbsp
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • Set aside

How to make hot rolls:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Bring milk to boil. Let cool. Beat egg and add to milk. Then add margarine and yeast mixture to milk along with the sugar and salt. Mix in approximately 5 cups flour or until of good dough consistency. Grease hands and knead well. Grease a large bowl and let dough set until double in bulk (about 1 1/2 hours). Punch down. Roll out on floured board and cut out or pinch off rolls. Let rise again. Bake at 375° until lightly browned.Cinnamon Rolls: Follow recipe for Hot Rolls, but add 1 teaspoon vanilla to milk mixture. Roll dough out on floured board. Spread generously with butter or soft margarine. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough and slice off 1/2-inch slices. Place in greased pan. Sprinkle again with cinnamon. Bake at 375° until browned.

While hot, spread with glaze made of 2 cups powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons of milk.
