Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 3 c
- pepper - 2 tsp
- dried black-eyed peas - 1 pkg
- dash of crushed red pepper - 1 item
- smoked neck bones - 2 item
How to make hoppin' john:
In a large pot, place salt, pepper, red pepper and smoked neck bones. Rinse peas. Add to water.On medium heat, stir occasionally for about 1 1/2 hours. Follow directions for white rice. You may need to add water to peas. When tender, serve over rice.
