Homemade yogurt
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 qt
- natural yogurt - 4 tsp
- fruits or jams - 1 item
How to make homemade yogurt:
You will need 4 pint jars.Heat the milk to 115°. Pour into the jars which have been scalded with boiling water. Using a scalded spoon, add 1 teaspoon natural yogurt to each jar. Stir. Place scalded ring lids on jars. Place jars in a small insulated chest with water 120° up to rims. Put lid on chest and let jars rest for several hours or until yogurt is set. Store in refrigerator. The yogurt is not as firm as that purchased commercially. Add fruit or small amount of jam, if flavor is desired. This product can be used in place of sour cream.
