Ingredients/Components

  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • sliced green onion - 1 clove
  • tomato sauce - 1/2 c
  • black pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • green pepper, chopped - 1/2 item
  • snipped cilantro or parsley - 1 2
  • can diced tomatoes, slightly drained - 1 oz
  • jalapeno with seeds, minced adjust amount to desired amount of heat - 1 item

How to make homemade salsa:

In a medium bowl, stir together tomatoes, jalapeno, green pepper, lemon juice, cilantro or parsley, garlic and pepper and onion. Place about 1 cup of the tomato mixture and tomato sauce in a blender. Cover and blend just until pureed. Stir into remaining tomato mixture. Cover and chill for several hours or overnight, stirring occasionally. Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Use as a dip for chips or as a topper for main dishes. Makes about 3 1/3 cups sauce.
