Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cornstarch - 5 tsp
  • cold water
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • egg yolk - 1 item
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped celery - 1/4 c
  • soft bread crumbs - 2 c
  • ketchup - 1/4 c
  • minced onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • poultry seasoning - 1/4 tsp
  • ham, ground - 1 lb
  • honey-Dijon mustard - 2 Tbsp
  • lean beef chuck or 1 lb - 1 lb
  • Pack into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan

How to make ham loaf:

Mix all ingredients well. Pack into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Drain off juice before unmolding. Serves 8 to 10. Serve with Honey-Dijon Mustard Sauce.Honey-Dijon Mustard Sauce:1 Tbsp. butter or margarine2 Tbsp. honey-Dijon mustard1/2 tsp. salt1 Tbsp. sugar1 egg yolk1 1/4 c. cold water5 tsp. cornstarch2 Tbsp. cold water1 Tbsp. lemon juice Over medium heat, melt butter. Remove pan from stove. Add mustard, salt and sugar. Beat egg yolk slightly. Add to 1 1/4 cups cold water. With a wire whisk, add to butter mixture. Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Stir into sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with wire whisk until smooth and thickened. Remove from stove. Add lemon juice. Serve hot or cold with ham dishes or as a dip for chicken tenders.
