  • milk - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 4 c
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • quick-cooking grits - 1 c
  • grated processed cheese, divided

How to make grits casserole:

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper. Gradually stir in grits. Lower heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat. Stir in butter and 1 cup cheese until melted. Mix eggs with milk; stir into grits.

Pour grits into a greased, 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 1 hour. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
