Grandmother's famous cranberry bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- margarine or butter - 1/4 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- flour, sifted - 2 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- grated orange peel - 1 tsp
- orange juice - 3/4 c
- light raisins
- fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
How to make grandmother's famous cranberry bread:
Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and baking powder into a large bowl. Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add egg, orange peel and orange juice all at once. Stir until moist (evenly). Fold in raisins and cranberries. Spoon into a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan (greased). Bake at 350° for 70 minutes or until done. Remove from pan.
