German sweet chocolate cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- flaked coconut - 1/2 c
- sifted flour
- margarine - 1 c
- egg yolks, beaten - 3 item
- Cool
How to make german sweet chocolate cake:
Melt chocolate over low heat. Cool. Sift flour with salt. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Cream butter. Add sugar and continue beating until well blended and fluffy. Blend chocolate; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla. Add flour alternately with buttermilk mixture, mixing well. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch layer pans. Bake at 350° approximately 30 minutes. Cool and frost.Frosting:1 c. evaporated milk or heavy cream1 c. sugar3 egg yolks, beaten1/2 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. flaked coconut1 c. chopped pecans Combine milk, sugar, egg yolk, butter and vanilla, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
