Ingredients/Components
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/4 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- pecan halves - 1 item
- chopped dates 8 oz - 1 c
- candied cherries 4 oz red 4 oz - 1 c
How to make fruitcake cookies:
Thoroughly mix shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in buttermilk. Combine dry ingredients and add. Stir in pecans, dates and cherries. Chill. Drop teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Top with pecan half. Bake at 400° for approximately 8 minutes. Do not over brown. Yield: Approximately 4 dozen.Recipe categories: Desserts, Drop cookies, Cookie and brownie.
