Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- flour
- butter - 1/2 lb
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- walnuts, chopped - 2 c
- pecans, chopped - 2 c
- candied pineapple - 1/2 lb
- dates - 1 c
- red candied cherries
- green candied cherries - 1/4 lb
- pure lemon extract - 1 Tbsp
- pure orange extract - 1 Tbsp
- large eggs, beaten well - 5 item
How to make fruit cake:
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Dredge fruit in part of flour. Add extracts to egg mixture. After dredging fruit; add to egg mixture and also add remaining flour. Add nuts and mix well. Grease tube pan. Pour batter into tube pan and place in cold oven. Bake at 250° for 3 hours. (Put a pan with 2 cups water on bottom shelf of oven.) Batter can be baked in 1 pound loaf pans or cupcakes at 250° for 1 1/2 hours.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Fruit.
