Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- vegetable oil - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- corn meal - 1 c
- large green tomatoes - 4 item
How to make fried green tomatoes:
Slice tomatoes 1/4-inch thick. Beat eggs in small mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Set aside. Combine corn meal, salt and pepper. Dip tomatoes in egg. Coat with meal mixture. Heat oil in large skillet or frying pan. Fry tomato slices until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towel. Makes 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Southern u.s..
