Fresh strawberry sauce
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 3/4 tsp
- almond extract - 1/8 tsp
- sliced strawberries - 1 c
- drops red food coloring - 2 item
How to make fresh strawberry sauce:
Combine berries and sugar in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours. Drain, reserving juice. Set berries aside.Add water to juice to measure 1/2 cup. Pour into saucepan. Stir in cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a boil. Boil and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in extract and food coloring. Pour over berries; stir gently. Chill. Serve over ice cream, pound cake or angel food cake. Makes about 3/4 cup.
