Fresh strawberry pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- water - 1 item
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- 9-inch baked pie shell - 1 item
- red food coloring optional - 1 item
- strawberries, cleaned and halved - 1 qt
- whipped topping or ice cream - 1 item
How to make fresh strawberry pie:
Place strawberries in bowl. Sprinkle sugar over berries. Berries should marinate 3 to 4 hours. Drain juice into top of double boiler. Add enough water to make 2 cups liquid. Blend cornstarch with 1/4 cup of liquid. Blend into juice. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cool. Add lemon juice and food coloring. Fold in strawberries. Spoon into pie shell. Chill abut 1 hour. Top with whipped topping or ice cream. Yields 6 large servings.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
