French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- onion, chopped
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- olive oil - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- beef broth or 6 cans beef broth - 2 qt
- vermouth - 1/2 c
- salt and pepper - 1 item
How to make french onion soup:
Cook first 3 ingredients for 15 minutes in a covered pan. Add salt and sugar. Cook 30 to 40 minutes (or until golden brown) over low heat. Blend in flour and cook for 3 minutes. Blend in boiling beef broth. Add vermouth and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes. Serves 8 to 10.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Meat, French.
