  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c

How to make french breakfast puffs:

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar and egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Stir in alternately with 1/2 cup milk. Fill greased muffin pan 2/3 full. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Roll in (or brush on) melted butter, then roll in cinnamon and sugar.
