Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • medium cucumbers - 25 item
  • white vinegar
  • to 8 medium onions - 6 item
  • ice water to cover - 1 item

How to make freezer pickles:

Slice cucumbers and onions very thin. Cover with ice water and 1/2 cup of salt. Cover and refrigerate 48 hours. Drain well. Bring 1 1/2 pints of vinegar and 5 cups of sugar to a boil. Let cool. Pack jars loosely with cucumbers and onions. Pour vinegar and sugar over the cucumbers and onions in the jars. Seal. Freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight.
