  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • carrots, diced - 2 item
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • thyme - 1/4 tsp
  • stalk celery, sliced - 1 item
  • potatoes, peeled and diced - 2 item
  • butter or margarine, divided - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped parsley optional - 1 Tbsp
  • dry white wine or water - 1 c

How to make fish chowder:

In 3-quart saucepan, over medium heat, saute onion, carrots and celery in 1 tablespoon butter or margarine. Add fish, potatoes, bay leaf, salt, thyme, pepper and wine. Cover; simmer 20 minutes. With fork, break fish into chunks. Add milk and remaining butter. Discard bay leaf. Sprinkle with parsley. Makes 4 servings.
