Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 2/3 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- flour I used self-rising - 2 c
- cinnamon whatever amount you like - 1 item
- fresh figs or substitute canned figs* - 2 c
How to make fig cake:
*I use 1 (15 3/4 ounce) jar fig preserves and 1 (4 ounce) jar of baby food peaches (or whatever kind you had rather use).Cream Crisco, sugar and eggs very good. Sift soda, salt, spices and flour. Add creamed mixture to flour mixture. Beat good and stir in figs and nuts. Beat good again. Bake in 325° oven for 45 minutes or an hour, using 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
