Ingredients/Components

  • chopped pecans
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • coconut
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • stick melted margarine - 1 item
  • German chocolate cake mix - 1 item

How to make earthquake cake:

In a 9 x 15-inch cake pan, put the chopped nuts, then coconut. Mix cake mix according to directions. Place on top of nuts and coconut.

Beat sugar, butter and cream cheese. Put on top of cake mix. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve when cool.

Note: I could not find a 9 x 15-inch pan, only a 9 x 13-inch, which is not really large enough. After it ran over in the oven and made a big mess, I placed a cookie sheet beneath the pan the next time. It ran over, but at least it was easier to clean. I also recommend using a disposable aluminum pan. (Example: A lasagna size baking pan.)
