Ingredients/Components
- boiling coffee - 1 c
- cocoa - 2/3 c
- baking soda
- sugar - 2 c
- oleo - 2/3 c
- eggs - 2 item
- buttermilk - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- Let cool to lukewarm
- milk - 1/4 c
- powdered sugar
- warm milk - 2 Tbsp
How to make devil's food cake:
Pour the boiling coffee over the cocoa and baking soda in a large bowl. Let cool to lukewarm. Cream sugar and oleo. Add eggs. Beat well. Add cooled cocoa mixture. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Stir in vanilla. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan for 35 minutes at 350°.Brown Sugar Frosting:1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. milk1 Tbsp. oleo2 Tbsp. oleo1 1/2 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. warm milk1 tsp. vanilla Boil the first 3 ingredients to soft ball. Let cool. Beat together the oleo, powdered sugar, warm milk and vanilla. Pour brown sugar mixture over powdered sugar mixture; beat until smooth.Recipe categories: Desserts, Chocolate, Cakes.
