Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- egg whites, beaten stiff - 3 item
- white sugar - 2 c
- eggs whole - 2 item
- Crisco or butter - 1/2 c
- baking soda, dissolved in 1 c - 2 tsp
- cocoa, dissolved in 1 c - 1/2 c
- flour, sifted add half now - 3 c
- Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes, then turn up to 375° to finish
How to make devil's food cake:
Mix ingredients in the order written; beat well. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes, then turn up to 375° to finish.Boiled Icing:2 c. white sugar1/2 c. water3 egg whites, beaten stiff Boil sugar and water until it spins a thread or forms a ball in cold water.
