Date-filled cookies

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1/2 c
• eggs - 3 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• flour - 3 c
• brown sugar - 2 c
• butter - 1 Tbsp
• water - 1/2 c
• shortening - 1 c
• lemon juice - 1 tsp
• dates
• each: soda and salt - 1 tsp

How to make date-filled cookies:

Filling:1 1/2 c. dates1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. water1 Tbsp. butter1 tsp. lemon juice Cook filling until thick.

Mix dough as with most cookies. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased sheets. Drop a little filling in center of each. Cover with a little more cookie dough. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
