Crunchy caramel snack mix

Ingredients/Components

• vanilla - 1/2 tsp
• packed brown sugar - 1 c
• butter or margarine - 1/2 c
• baking soda - 1/4 tsp
• light corn syrup - 1/4 c
• cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
• peanuts - 1 c
• Rice Chex - 3 c
• small pretzels - 2 c
• Cocoa Puffs - 3 c

How to make crunchy caramel snack mix:

Combine Cocoa Puffs, Rice Chex, pretzels and peanuts. Set aside.

In medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture begins to boil. Let mixture boil, over medium heat, without stirring, for 4 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in baking soda, cream of tartar and vanilla.

Pour syrup over cereal. Mix until cereal is coated well. Pour mixture into baking pan. Bake mixture in a 300° oven for 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes. Cool on wax paper.

Microwave Directions: Pour mixture into large glass bowl. Microwave on High for 2 minutes; stir. Microwave for another minute; stir. Cool on wax paper.
