Cranberry bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder
- well beaten egg - 1 item
- sifted flour - 2 c
- melted shortening - 2 Tbsp
- fresh or frozen cranberries, cut in half - 2 c
- juice and grated peel of 1 orange
How to make cranberry bread:
Sift dry ingredients together. Combine orange juice, peel, shortening and enough water to make 3/4 cup liquid. Stir in egg. Pour into dry ingredients. Mix just enough to dampen. Fold in nuts and cranberries. Spread into pan, 9 x 5 x 3-inch, higher around the outside edges. Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.
